Trim Size

The page size is the size of your book/zine once you’ve finished printing, binding, and trimming it.

Depending on the Sheet Size you’re printing on, and how many pages you’re arranging on each side of the sheet, you’ll have a maximum page size for your book. For example:

If you don’t cut down the edges of your book/zine further, then often the trim size is the same as the max page size.

If your original PDF has pages bigger than the max page size that’s possible for the layout you make, then the page sizing will switch to “Scale to fit” and shrink your content down so it can go on the page.

You can also resize the document to the exact size you want, and make other choices to make the book smaller or just the size and aspect ratio to get the format you want.

If you’re cutting down the book’s pages to make them smaller than the max page size allowed by your layout choices (sheet size, n-up, rows x columns, etc) then you might also want to add Printer’s Marks onto the pages to define the Trim Size, and, if your document has Bleed, you can add small marks to specify the extent of the bleed as well.
